At Home Whole Wheat Pizza Recipe

Whole Wheat Supreme Pizza

Pizza night is one of my favorite easy dinners we have at our house. Growing up we always ordered a pie on Friday nights from our local pizza place, and as lovely & convenient as that tradition was we do it a little differently at my house. We try to incorporate whole wheat whenever we have the chance. After trying multiple pizza places that offered a whole wheat crust option we were sick of being disappointed. That's when we decided that if we wanted a whole wheat crust that was cooked exactly how we wanted it we should figure out a way to do it ourself. We always use a Boboli 100% Whole Wheat Crust for connivence but you could easily make your own with a little bit of planning ahead. Food Network has a easy & delicious recipe that comes highly recommended. When we first started to make this pizza we couldn't seem to find the pepperoni in the grocery store so we decided to use sopressata in its place. This quickly became our favorite part of the pizza. The sopressata has a distinct flavor that works really well with all of other ingredients of a supreme pizza. I prefer to use a small dice for my sopressata instead of slices to ensure I get a little piece with every bite!

Cooking Method: 

  • Preheat over to 450 degrees. Combine tomato sauce, tomato paste, and spices. 
  • Spread 1 tablespoon olive oil on pizza crust and top with pizza sauce. Add both cheeses & toppings. Bake at 450 degrees for 12 minutes. 

Sauce Ingredients: 

  • 1 cup tomato sauce 
  • 1/2 cup tomato paste 
  • salt & pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon oregano 
  • 1 teaspoon basil 
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder

Pizza Toppings: 

  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1/4 cup parmesan cheese 
  • diced onion
  • diced black olives
  • diced hot banana peppers
  • diced sopressata
