Happy Friday everybody! I've been looking forward to this weekend for weeks now! Every season my friends and I get together for some much needed girls time. Since we all live in different cities we don't get to see each other as often as we'd like. Since our visits aren't as often as we'd like when girls weekend finally comes around we go all out. For this weekends festivities we will be indulging in a lot of glorious spring weather, delicious cocktails, brunch on brunch on brunch, and a whole lot of girl talk. Every time we get together we each bring a little something special to contribute to the party. I've decided this time around I want to share with them elderflower liquor. It's incredible in morning mixed into a grapefruit mimosas, delicious added into a St. Gemaine Margarita, and irresistible in my personal favorite a Basilic cocktail.
I started making the Basilic cocktail after tasting it at Parc in Philadelphia over the summer. For my spin on Parc's Basilic cocktail I have come up with the following recipe:
- 1 shot citrus vodka
- 1 shot elderflower liquor
- 5 basil leaves & 3 cucumber slices muddled
- serve in a tall glass with a few cubes of ice
- top off with champagne or sparkling water
For an extra boost of flavor you can make a basil simple syrup to eliminate the muddled basil. If you've never tried elderflower liquor I highly recommend you indulge yourself a little this weekend. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Do any of you have exciting plans for the weekend? I'm not sure Washington, D.C. is ready for us, but I can't wait! Enjoy everybody!
