Having recently moved I can't even begin to tell you how many hours I wasted putting together furniture. At first I kind of enjoyed the process, but after six hours and five missing screws I was ready to pull my hair out. It's quite possibly one of the most frustrating things to deal with when moving, and I'm not kidding when I say it is certain to test the strength of your relationship. I now know that team work & furniture building are two skill sets that we need to work on before having to furnish more than a three room apartment.
Recently while complaining endlessly about the process of putting together, disassembling, and reassembling furniture, a friend of mine told me about a new company that was getting ready to launch called Hem. Hem describes itself as "the first affordable high-end design brand created to serve online-direct customers" and focuses on ensuring that all of their pieces are easy to assemble, requiring no tools for the process. Affordable, high-quality, and easy to assemble... how can that be real?! Well apparently their prices aren't necessarily what you would usually think of as affordable, but you have to take inconsideration that these pieces aren't of the same quality as you'd get from an Ikea or Target. These pieces are extremely high quality and are built to last for years to come. They are also all created by some of the worlds most talented designers, making the prices a bit more understandable.
Whether you are in the market for some new pieces or if you just love modern furniture, I highly recommend checking them out. Hem only recently launched to the general public, so if you fall in love with a product and decide to make a purchase you'll be placed on their pre-order list. I'd love to know what you guys think about Hem and their range of products. I think a lot of people will be surprised to hear that they are marketing themselves as affordable, but when you take everything into consideration I think it totally makes sense.
