A few weeks ago Christie from KikiMac invited me to be apart of a tour through blogland. Unfortunately at that time I was unable to participate so I was extremely appreciative when I had a second chance at joining in the fun when Kate from Taffeta & Tullips invited me to be apart of hers. Kate's blog is an amazing spot to find food, fashion, and decor inspiration that will help you elevate your everyday in a very attainable way. Kate probably has one of the only blogs that has made me whip up a spontaneous batch of cookies just because her post that day looked so delicious, without being too much of a hassle of course. The attainable quality of everything she shares is what always keeps me going back for more. If you are looking for a blog to help you make your everyday life just a little bit more special, I highly recommend checking out her site. I mean if a busy mom of four can do it I think we can find the time too!
What are you currently working on?
November is definitely shaping up to be a very busy month for me. At the moment I’m currently working on a few collaborations behind the scenes that I’m so excited to be able to be apart of. They have certainly taken me a bit outside my comfort zone but in the best possible way. I’m also currently working on a few website redesigns for myself and a few other businesses & bloggers. Lastly I am working on expanding MINCK | CO. with new series & content. Part of this growth will include adding a few contributors to the sites roster who will share their particular expertise with my readers.
How does your work differ from others in it’s genre?
My work has a lot of elements that are similar to other lifestyle bloggers but there are also a few distinct differences that I think set it apart. I believe it’s similar in that I am a young woman sharing my passion & insight with others of similar interest. It’s unique in that some of the topics that are covered are not what you’d necessarily expect from a lifestyle blog. Two things that I have been fascinated by for a while are technology & startups. Everyday we have new technology & companies that are popping up and changing the way we live our lives. I love being able to highlight some of them on my site, giving people a chance to know about them before they become really mainstream.
How does your writing & creative process work?
When I first started my blog I was pretty strategic about the space I wanted to create. I spent months figuring out exactly what it was that drew me to various sites that I frequently visited. Once I had an understanding of what I liked and didn't like, I tried to pull it all together to create a site that felt authentic to who I am and what I would like to read. One thing that I really love about certain blogs is that they don't tell you everything about the person behind the blog upfront. I love when a blog feels like a slowly unfolding story where little bits & pieces of who someone is comes together over a long period of time. That's how I wanted my site to feel. I didn't really want it to be a personal diary but I did want to have bits of who I am come through in my writing. I try to give my readers a hint of who I am and things going on in my life while still sharing unique content that you won't find everywhere else. For daily posts I like to stay as close to my initial vision as possible. Once I come up with a post idea I usually write a few different versions of the text until it has that perfect balance.
Why do you write & create what you do?
I’ve always known I wanted to start something of my own one day, so I guess that this little site of mine was kind of my first step towards that. Before starting my site, I always felt like I had a unique set of skills & insights that I wasn’t exactly putting to use in my daily life. I’m pretty reserved when it comes to talking about myself or networking so starting MINCK | CO. was a way of exploring a side of myself that I’d always been hesitant to really put out there.
So I know this post was a bit different from what I usually share on the site but I hope you guys enjoyed it! If you like the concept behind a tour through blogland be sure to check out these these talented bloggers who will be sharing their answers next monday!
